The Day of AIDS Walk Philly
Parking – Parking around the Art Museum is limited so we suggest that you take public transportation if at all possible. If you have no other option but to drive a car, try to carpool with as many people as possible. Remember, thousands of people will be participating in AIDS Walk Philly, so please allow ample time to find parking.
For SEPTA Train & Bus information, call (215) 580-7800 or visit www.septa.org.
Buses - If you are bringing your group in a bus, parking will be available for buses only along the Ben Franklin Parkway. Buses must enter at 22nd Street. AIDS Fund can always use extra buses to act as “Poop Out” Buses to pick up tired walkers along the route. If you’re interested in volunteering your bus and driver, please contact us at 215-731-WALK.
Turn in Donations – The Donation Tent opens at 7:30am on the day of the Walk. It is best to get there as early as possible to avoid the crowds. Each individual must turn in his/her own money! Those walkers who have already turned in their donations and pledge sheets during Early Sign-In do not need to go to the Donation Tent.
Have Your Team Photo Taken – When your team members have arrived, Team Captains should take their Photo Pass to the designated photo area to have a photographer take your picture.
Pick-Up Your T-Shirt – All walkers who raise the minimum $45 in donations will receive a commemorative AIDS Walk Philly t-shirt. Don’t forget to pick up your t-shirt and other fundraising prizes after you drop off your donations.
Walk Time – Most people take 2-3 hours to walk the 12 kilometers (8.4 miles).
Dress – Depending on the weather, it may be slightly chilly in the early morning. After the first few kilometers you will probably begin to get warm, though, so dress in layers.
Shoes – Wear comfortable, sturdy shoes in good condition. Sandals or flip-flops are not recommended.
Pit Stops – Portable restrooms and complimentary water will be provided at various locations along the Walk route.
Poop-Out Buses – If you get tired or overheated, don’t worry! There will be buses and vans traveling all along the route to pick up tired walkers.
In Case of Rain – AIDS Walk Philly is on, RAIN OR SHINE! Many of us walk anyway. Grab a raincoat, umbrella, or rain hat. And don’t forget, no matter what the weather, to come to the Donation Tent that morning to turn in your donations.
